Music Monday 01/10/2018

of course, the way that i break my hiatus is by telling you what music i have been listening to during this time of hibernation. i hope you enjoy! (and tune in for the next blog post – i’ll explain my absences.)

I Don’t Lack Imagination // EˆST • this song is definitely blasted when i’m angry. and it’s the best way to get your emotions out with a catchy beat and melody. EˆST is definitely one to watch.

i don’t lack imagination to my own goddamn frustration …

Go Fuck Yourself // Two Feet • i heard this song in ‘Atypical’ (gah i love that show!!) and holy smokes!! that beat drop gets me every time. it’s a sultry piece of music!

play these little games …

Chicago // sufjan stevens • let’s be honest here: sufjan stevens is an angel that has been sent to grace us with his beautiful music. this song is one of his older ones (and quite a different one from others on his ‘carrie and lowell’ album!). i definitely recommend checking out this album. the amazing song titles are just the beginning!

i’ve made a lot of mistakes …

Soul Lay Open // Terence Ryan • ooft that chorus is the most catchy chorus that i have heard this week. i can’t get it out of my head!

threw pennies in the whole time I was growing up …

whisper // serpentwithfeet • i found this artist just a couple of days ago and i fell in love. his unique voice paired with orchestral music makes the most interesting sound. it’s even better if you use headphones. ‘whisper’ itself is a brooding song which creeps upon you from its inception.

I Feel Like I’m Drowning // Two Feet • you can definitely find the on-brand guitar riffs and beat drops in this song. yes, it’s two songs from the same band in the same post. but, damn. their songs are so sultry and enchanting.

you’re a poison and i know that is the truth …

invoice // serpentwithfeet • yep-a-doodle-dee! another song from this artist. ‘invoice’ begins with josiah wise’s classic vibrato voice and comes together with an amazing beat drop. please listen to this one.

whatever makes you cold …

Big God // Florence + The Machine • okay, any song with florence welsh is going be the best. ooft, i can’t get over the beat and the haunting guitar playing in the background below florence’s unique voice.

jesus christ it hurts …

Me and The Devil // Soap&Skin • if you’re not listening carefully, you would confuse this song with something from florence + the machine. anja plaschg creates a dark, soul-stirring sound in this song. the string instruments with their incessant playing of the same notes echoes throughout the song.

hello satan, i believe that it’s time to go. me and the devil, walking side by side …

what have you been up to while i was away?

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

oh my heart! i devoured this book, so i couldn’t write any notes on it like i usually would. i’m sorry if i’m a blubber-mouth in this review! this is NOT SPOILER-FREE! be careful!

Summary

Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.

this book is definitely on the top of my list. it’s funny, real and very necessary in our society nowadays.

okay, okay, settle your horses. i know you’re just as excited about this book (AND THE MOVIE) but i need to provide some context.

i wanted to read this book FOREVER. the hype surrounding it made me extremely interested, but there was one problem … i was broke! thankfully, i got this for Christmas and i instantly tore into it when i could.

i think this novel, for some reason, just spoke to me. i don’t know why, but when i finished this book, i felt sad to leave the world of Simon and i wanted to continue his journey of finding himself and dealing with his sexuality. this book tugged at all my heartstrings and i want to just read it and read it and read it.

i don’t even know where to begin.

maybe we can start at my first impressions?

i think the writing was simplistic. in the beginning, it annoyed me but as i became used to Simon’s world, i think the simplicity of the writing actually made me feel closer to the character because he spoke as if he was telling you his story. soon, i loved the little jokes and side-comments Simon would throw in and often found myself grinning.

also, this book is really relatable.

maybe that’s why i connected to it so much? it felt like an inside joke with yourself and the main character.

i loved this book so much because i also connected with the characters.

-Leah’s self-consciousness i understand because i’m self-conscious too and i feel socially anxious all the time. and i understand what she means about being left out because it’s happened to me too.
-i get Blue because he is quiet and shy and some of what he says i can see myself feeling too. and he has divorced parents and i know what he means about having to tell the same daunting thing two times instead of just sitting your parents down and blurting it out.
-and Simon, oh dear Simon. he has my entire heart because i also get him. i know this is little, but we have the same taste in music (shoutout to Sufjan Stevens!) and he loves music as much as i do and he makes playlists for how he is feeling and listens to music everyday. i’ve said it before, but music encompasses all the things i can’t say and i think that’s the same with Simon. and it’s just little things he says and does which makes me feel like, “yes, I get that, I totally get that”.

the romance killed me. in a good way.

it was just SO DAMN ROMANTIC. i loved how Blue and Simon flirted through their emails because it was so cute and their relationship just sent my heart fluttering!

i don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but i sort of wished that Leah, if not ended up with, had a relationship with Nick. i feel bad for her, but hopefully we’ll see how it goes in the prequel to Simon vs. called Leah on the Offbeat.

but i will admit that the relationship between Abby and Nick was really cute, especially how they were describing what happened in the car. awwwww!

it addressed sexuality.

“There shouldn’t even be a default”

i agree!! there shouldn’t be a default on anything: race, sexuality, looks … we should become all-inclusive for every. single. person. but i also agree with the whole premise that everyone should come out.

why is straight the normal and the default? from a young age, it was expected that i have a crush on a boy, so i created an ideal of having a boyfriend. my belief is that we shouldn’t pressure social constructs on children because that is what creates this silence about being who you are. we should all have to come out about our sexuality because no one deserves to be labelled something they are not.

i’m straight. but, as a teenager in my formative years, my ideas can change. plus, how do i really know i’m straight without working it out in my head? what if that is not the case? currently, i’m at a point in my life where i am questioning if what i believed in my childhood reflects who i am. and don’t be afraid to do that as well! question your sexuality because in the end, you will know. if you believe you’re straight, gay, bisexual, asexual, pan or anything else then good for you!! you deserve to be proud of yourself because dealing with your sexuality is at times draining. if you haven’t figured it out yet, you will and when you do, i think you will be the happiest you have ever been.

the novel also mentions a lot about the circumstances which gay people must deal with. such as religion or parents’ ideals. i also found it particularly evoking when Martin was angry and wrote that post on Tumblr about Simon being gay, whereupon Simon told him that it wasn’t his news to tell.

the plot was a big mush of cuteness and relatability and gahh, i loved it.

i don’t know what to say except that I WISH I WAS LIVING IN THAT WORLD. the plot was perfect-o! what else to say except that it ticked all the boxes for me. i honestly can’t think of anything wrong. but maybe that is also because i didn’t take any notes …

either way, IT WAS SO GOOD.

can i be friends with everyone?

honestly, they are all just so hilarious and once again, relatable. i am just blubbering right now (like i said i would) but they were SO AMAZING. and original and unique. i loved them all soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!

the movie looks SO GOOD THAT I ALMOST STARTED CRYING WHEN WATCHING THE TRAILER.

okay, so i know this has nothing to do with the book, but it’s true!!! i had the chance to see an advanced screening of Simon vs. but I COULDN’T GO AND I AM KICKING MYSELF CONSTANTLY. i just can’t wait for March to roll around and then i can see all my bubs. my bub Keiynan Lonsdale is in it (if you follow my blog for a while, you will see my obsession!) AND HE IS PLAYING BRAM AND MY HEART COULD NOT BE HAPPIER and my other bub Nick Robinson is in it and he is THE CUTEST. AND ALL MY BUBS ARE IN IT. AND CAL IS EXACTLY HOW I IMAGINED (oh dear Miles Heizer, I am reunited with you once again). When I watch the movie, every single cast member will by my bub.

anyway, that’s a wrap on my review (which kinda makes me sad because it means this story is officially over!!!!). I LOVED THIS STORY SO MUCH. READ IT!!!!!

if you ever want to talk or just geek out about books and be friends, I am here!!! also, whatever your situation is, know that countless of people are here to support you.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

yes, yes, yes!!! a book review! it’s been almost two years since my last one (sorry!!) so i’m really excited to get back into it.

Summary

It’s the year 2044, and the real world has become an ugly place. We’re out of oil. We’ve wrecked the climate. Famine, poverty, and disease are widespread.

Like most of humanity, Wade Watts escapes this depressing reality by spending his waking hours jacked into the OASIS, a sprawling virtual utopia where you can be anything you want to be, where you can live and play and fall in love on any of ten thousand planets. And like most of humanity, Wade is obsessed by the ultimate lottery ticket that lies concealed within this alternate reality: OASIS founder James Halliday, who dies with no heir, has promised that control of the OASIS – and his massive fortune – will go to the person who can solve the riddles he has left scattered throughout his creation.

For years, millions have struggled fruitlessly to attain this prize, knowing only that the riddles are based in the culture of the late twentieth century. And then Wade stumbles onto the key to the first puzzle. Suddenly, he finds himself pitted against thousands of competitors in a desperate race to claim the ultimate prize, a chase that soon takes on terrifying real-world dimensions – and that will leave both Wade and his world profoundly changed.

Ready Player One was humorous, mysterious and interesting, merging the past and future into one amazing novel.

it was a spur-of-the-moment TBR book. i was watching videos on YouTube, looking for some new book recommendations (even though i already had a mountain high TBR list) Ready Player Oneand someone talked about Ready Player One. i checked it out on Goodreads and was like, okay, sounds fairly interesting, but put it in the back of my mind.

then, the trailer for the movie came out and everyone started mentioning the book (mainly because it’s directed by Steven Spielberg), so i remembered the story again and anticipation grew in me to read it. surely it must be good if it’s becoming a movie?

fast track to the end of 2017 and i’m at the bookstore, staring lovingly at the stacks of crisp paperbacks when i spot Ready Player One, glistening and waiting for someone to read it. it was luckily at the time when my bookstore was having a buy-one-get-another-50%-off kind of day, so i picked up the book (along with The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho) and bought the book and sniffed the book … i mean, whaaaaaat? pfft, who even does that? sniffing books? not me …

as it sat on my bookshelf and stared longingly at me, i stared back but began doubting if i really wanted to read it. i’m going to be honest, but i couldn’t remember what it really was about when i bought it. i just remembered feeling like i wanted to read it. as i read the blurb, i started panicking wondering if it was the right decision …

well, well, well, my friends. i can most definitely assure you that it was the best decision to make because this book is truly fantastic.

i can’t even describe it but basically: world is in tatters (because of poverty and climate change), there’s a virtual simulation game called the OASIS, OASIS creator dies and leaves his fortune and the company to anyone who can figure out the clues he’s left, welcome Wade Watts and his story and prepare for an ultimate 80s geek fest!

the plot was excellent.

i could find no flaws in it when i was reading. in fact, it was one of the most original and unique story lines i have ever read. it definitely does not fall into being cliché and because of this it’s memorable. it’s realistic enough that you can imagine virtual reality games of nowadays and you’re able to understand the OASIS. and let me tell you, the OASIS is an amazing place. i’m not going to lie that i want to experience being in the OASIS. i’ve always loved first-player simulation games, but the OASIS meets all my dreams and if i ever had the chance, i would jump on the bandwagon to try it.

i loved how the book was separated into three “levels” and as you went through, there was suspense as to who would unlock each gate, and how it was done. whenever the gate was unlocked, it made me feel relieved because it was one step closer to the “egg” (the ultimate prize to get Halliday’s fortune) and further away from the Sixers.

the writing was at times simplistic.

often, i look past it and justify the means, but i felt that the writing was cut short at times. this made events shorter and it kind of annoyed me because you have this epic battle scene and in one or two pages, it’s finished with hardly any suspense. the style of writing fit the character, so it felt like Wade was writing a journal and you were reading it and i enjoyed that, but i think some things could have been described in more detail.

the characters were one-of-a-kind.

the group in Ready Player One were a motley-crew kind of group. you have the main character, the bestfriend/sidekick Aech (pronounced ‘H’), two Japanese brothers and a love interest called Art3mis (pronounced ‘Artemis’, like how cool is that?). the amazing thing is that throughout the entire novel, both the reader and Wade only know them by their OASIS username, so it’s this anticipation of finding out who they really are. and i loved finding that out!! i was surprised to find out who Aech was, but i loved it a lot and then you have this anticipation of how Art3mis and Wade are going to react to each other in real life and honestly, when it happens, it is the best thing in the entire world. but don’t skip ahead, otherwise you will get spoilers and i don’t want you to be spoiled!

i loved the diversity that was incorporated into the novel. Cline mentions race, sexuality and weight. he addresses the topics of today through having characters that voice these opinions. it’s refreshing to see a group that is not just Caucasian, or just male or female. i think diversity is important in novels, and Cline did it in a way that made it seem effortless? i don’t think that’s the right word, but the diversity didn’t feel forced into the novel.

this has become one of my favourite novels. i have to be honest and say that i did cry when i reached the end. not that you should be worried of crying too, but i loved the characters so much that i didn’t feel like leaving them. weird, right? i can imagine rereading this book which i can’t say for a lot of books like this one.

read it, read it, read it!!

and watch the movie because it seems so good and on point that i will probably cry even when the movie is finished.

thank you so much for reading this review! have you read Ready Player One?

Riverdale: The River’s Edge

Riverdale is a chilling “teen soap opera” with romance and all the mystery a small town with it’s quirky inhabitants could get.

Season 1, Episode 1

Riverdale, season 1 Trailer

Rating: 🎥 🎥 🎥 🎥 🎥

Over the past few days, I have seen much hype around the new TV show, Riverdale. It continuously popped up on my Facebook feed as the show adapted from the Archie comics. I was impressed, but the trailer didn’t immediately make me want to binge the show. I had my questions about it. Eventually, with it’s continuous marketing on my social medias, I decided I would test the waters, see if this show was good enough to continue.

When the show arrived on Netflix, I was eager to begin and within the first few moments knew I was going enjoy the show.

So, the characters. Jughead is the narrator of the story, a quiet boy who was once Archie Andrews’ friend. He spends his time writing a novel about the death of a Riverdale inhabitant, known as Jason Blossoms. He and his sister, Cheryl, drove out to Sweetwater River for a boat ride where soon, a boy scout found Cheryl sitting by the waters edge, Jason nowhere in sight. It is later presumed he is dead after his body cannot be found.
In later scenes, Cheryl is shown to be the grieving sister, still the head of the school, popular, mean and devious.

Archie is the main character and boy, oh, boy he is the most handsomest around! He has a knack for writing music (he has a beautiful voice!) but finds he is expected to work for his father’s company and play varsity football. His ultimate dilemma in this episode is choosing how to juggle his passions. Over the summer, he hooked up with his music teacher Ms Grundy which leads to scandals and secrets throughout the show.

His best friend is Betty Cooper, who we find has a crush on Archie. She is the typical “girl-next-door” who needs to find the courage to ask Archie about moving forward in their relationship and gets reassurance from her best fried Kevin Keller that he feels the same way. She’s the sister of Poppy, Jason’s girlfriend. Soon, Betty befriends the new girl, Veronica Lodge and finds this is a way to stop her from always being what everyone believes her to be, perfect. To be honest, I found that I shipped Betty and Archie more than any other character.

Veronica Lodge presents herself as a confident girl, coming to Riverdale after being in New York. Her father is on trial for fraud and embezzlement and so her mother and her decide to start afresh. She catches the eye of Archie, and upon a dare are both locked in a closet for seven minutes where they soon kiss. Veronica frets that it’s wrong and unfair to Betty but does it anyway. I found this scene to be so annoying! This is mainly because I want Archie and Betty to be together.

Archie (left) and Betty (right) are at the Chook’Lit Shoppe where they first meet new girl Veronica (middle). Doesn’t she look so good!?

The scenes in this show are very cinematic. The colours and camera shots create a very beautiful and intriguing look. The music score is fitting and the set locations are perfect.

I found the town of Riverdale to be somewhat similar to the town of Rosewood, where the inhabitants of the show Pretty Little Liars reside. Within the town are secrets in every single person which gives this show something dark to ponder over. I love it! After all, aren’t secrets the foundation of a good teen drama?

From a distance, it presents itself like so many other small towns all over the world. Safe. Decent. Innocent. Get closer, though, and you start seeing the shadows underneath.

This episode ended on a definite cliffhanger … they found Jason’s body. It happens that he was shot in the head which gives us more questions, especially since Archie and Ms Grundy heard a shot when they were together. I think there are a ton of more secrets to do with Riverdale. We’ll just have to find out.

Overall, this show definitely stepped up and proved to be an excellent teen drama!

Shadowhunters: A Door Into the Dark

Season 2, Episode 2

Promo 2×02 “A Door Into the Dark”

Rating: 🎥🎥🎥🎥

This episode begins with Jace and Valentine returning to the ship after escaping a risky situation where Jocelyn tried to kill Jace.

This fuels anger between all of the characters especially Clary and Jocelyn, who reveals that Jace has demon blood in him and shows a scene where Jace is a baby and turns the flowers all black.

Everyone says that Valentine is the monster but you—you just tried to murder your own son!

Victor Aldertree is continuing to stir things around at the Institute and I still feel something shady about him. We’ll see in the coming episodes.

Now, Valentine is beginning to build his army, going to fight clubs to find the best and strongest. I love how Alec and Izzy’s relationship are shown in these scenes. I enjoyed their fighting scene very much. So badass!

This episode is the time when Clary is beginning to question her role as a Shadowhunter. She feels unwanted, Alec fuels this feeling even more, and wants to return to the way things were before—when she was a mundane. This causes her to ignore everyone around her and try to become human again, returning to painting and blocking the world away. However, she gets sucked into Valentine’s trap by seeing that Dot is alive and trusting her!

At the same time, Simon is trying to find Camille after Raphael (yes!) talked to him. Simon enlists the help of Magnus and they travel all the way to India (how convenient is portal travel?) to find her. In this scene, I began to view how Harry Shum Jr plays the role of Magnus. Don’t get me wrong, Matthew Daddario and Harry Shum Jr are probably the best at depicting their characters, but in this part with Simon, I felt the acting to be a little forced. I love Harry Shum Jr and how he plays him, but I really didn’t connect with Magnus this time around. Maybe I’m a bit too harsh? I know it’ll definitely get better as the episodes go by and I’ll begin to loosen up!

Jocelyn and Luke are trying to find Clary after being taken, and after some deliberation, the only way they can track her down is to use Alec and his parabatai bond with Jace as they think Clary is with Jace. Luke uses an adamas stone made by the Iron Sisters (Lisa Berry will be playing Sister Cleophas in the show. Instead of taking the role of Luke’s mother, Sister Cleophas will now be Luke’s sister) with a parabatai rune marked on it and they gather Alec to start tracking Jace and Clary. They are aware of the consequences which can end badly for Alec, but begin despite some trepidation.

Alec is able to find Clary and Jace, but he suffers a lot and the adamas is beginning to hurt him. My heart was beating incredibly fast at this time! MY POOR ALEC! The pain transpires to Jace who is trying to escape off the ship with Clary. This slows them down and they are incredibly close to being killed. It’s now that Dot opens a portal for them to escape to, risking her life which results in her later being killed.

This episode was good and the tension was at an all time high! I’m so pumped for episode three when Maia makes her appearance.

Catch my next review tomorrow!

Music Monday 16. 01. 2017

Our first Music Monday of the year! I’m so pumped to tell you what I’ve been listening to. Tell me in the comments if you like any of these songs and give me some suggestions!

F**ked Up // Leo Kalyan • Don’t let the title fool you, this song is amazing! Leo Kalyan has such a smooth voice and I’m in love with this song.

Like a crystal chamber, within a maze of danger

Don’t Leave // Snakehips, MØ • I have a feeling that this song could become big on the radio. Snakehips and MØ have both been quiet successful in 2016 and I could see this becoming a hit.

You know me. Now and then, I’m a mess

Unbound // MAALA • I was attracted to this song by the album cover which looks so interesting. Turns out, the music is just as good! This has such an edge to it and is similar to my favourite singer ever, Thomston.

You caught me off guard. Lightning lover

London // Greyson Chance • Ugh, I love Greyson Chance and was first introduced to him from his song Hit and Run. London is slow but he has such a beautiful voice. Also, he’s cute right?

You wandered through every chartered street, knew where the flowing water goes

Redbone // Childish Gambino • Have you heard this song slowed down? It’s amazing and the original is too! This is so smooth and rhythmic and it’s a good song to wind down to.

Too late. You wanna make it right, but now it’s too late

Love Is Like A Match // Imogen Brough • I’m in love. This song was in a trailer and I’ve been trying so hard to find this song! Finally in it’s in my hands and so many memories are flooding through my mind!

Burn through the night just to love again

Shape of You // Ed Sheeran • Of course this song is featured this week! I love Ed Sheeran and after a whole year of silence, he surprises us! I can’t wait until the album, coming out March 3rd.

Girl, you know I want your love. Your love was handmade for somebody like me

Castle on the Hill // Ed Sheeran • This song gives me definite James Bay vibes. How awesome would it be if they do a collaboration? *dead*.

I’m on my way. Driving at 90 down those country lanes

Love Me Now // John Legend • I think this song has a beautiful message but it’s also quite catchy. John Legend always has the best songs!

I don’t know who’s gonna kiss you when I’m gone. So I’m gonna love you now, like it’s all I have

Shadowhunters: This Guilty Blood

Season 2 is finally upon us! If you’re new to the Shadowhunters fandom or you still haven’t caught a glimpse of season 2 catch the trailers down below:

Shadowhunters Season 1 Trailer

Shadowhunters Season 2 Trailer

Rating: 🎥🎥🎥🎥 (4 video cameras!)

Season two is definitely proving to be a step-up from the first season. The props are better, the makeup (in terms of the runes) are how we all wanted, the relationships are all developed, the drama and tension is rising, and the characters are more three-dimensional.

Of course, I was super stoked to finally watch This Guilty Blood. After a year of waiting, after the cliffhanger of Jace leaving with Valentine, I was eager to know more. I think the first episode definitely made the wait worth it.

To start off with, the new intro to the show is so much better. The original theme song “This is the Hunt” by Ruelle is the same, but everything else is different and I like it a lot more.

The episode picks up moments after the end of season one. We see Jace and Valentine on the infamous ship that will be a place for many more scenes to come throughout the season. Just as you think Clary has arrived to rescue Jace and they’re about to return to the Institute, we see Valentine who Jace later kills. Actually, Valentine has been using shape-shifters and isn’t really dead. And Clary, well she’s not really there. Valentine shape-shifted into her to test Jace’s loyalty. And Alec! he’s so heartbroken and confused about Jace’s departure and he’s pushing everyone away (especially Magnus) and I feel sorry for him.

The relationship between Jocelyn and Clary feels somewhat strained to me, and maybe it’s because I really want them to sit down and tell each other everything. Jocelyn, especially what with everything about Jonathan. Jace found out that he has demon blood, but is that really true? You’ll just have to wait and find out … I can’t stand not having Sebastian on screen yet!

Victor Aldertree. Nick Sagar plays this character really well! He is handsome but there is something about Aldertree that has us all suspicious. Also, #Climon. I never really used to ship Simon and Clary in the books, though I did feel sorry for him, but in the show it’s so cute how much Simon likes Clary and how he was so close to telling her how he felt about her! I can’t wait until #Sizzy.

The soundtrack for season two is already proving to be the best. I loved the music in season one and now it’s even better. Like everyone knows, music conveys emotions to the viewer so they definitely made the right choice with the music score.

Sometimes with adaptions from books, I can get really picky at how certain aspects of the show or movie are conveyed. This can sometimes make the cliffhangers hardly cliffs at all, more like pebbles because I’ve been expecting it from the show. While everyone else who has not read the books is freaking out about the whole Jace-is-my-brother-and-Valentine-is-my-father situation, I’m over here thinking about the whole They-think-Jace-is-Jonathan-and-they-have-it-all-wrong-and-I’m-desperately-waiting-for-Sebastian-to-arrive situation. (By the way, Sebastian has been cast according to Cassandra Clare, we’re just waiting to find out who it is!)

So, all in all, season two is already so much better! Having the characters now more developed and comfortable in their positions and roles stands out and makes this show much better than how it was before.

Catch my next review later!

New Year, New Me, New Content

2017! That fantastic magical number that by December of last year we desperately wanted to come faster! Well, finally, here we are!

Often at the beginning of the new year, people set resolutions that they would like to accomplish throughout the twelve months of the year. Instead, I decided to set goals for the year. Here they are:

  • Post more // Especially on this blog! I want to keep everyone up-to-date and entertained.
  • Practice taking photos of books // I see all of these bookstagrams and turn green in envy—they’re so good!
  • Exercise more // I want to start becoming healthier throughout this year and already have a few ideas up my sleeve.
  • Read as many books as possible // Last year, I read a meagre amount of 25 which is less than half the amount of books I read the year before. This year, I definitely have my sights set.

Let’s see if I can tackle these. I’ll keep everyone posted!

As you can see from the title, I’m going to be posting new content on my blog. I have other interests that definitely tie in with books and I’m going to be incorporating that on my blog. For example, Shadowhunters season 2 came out and each week I’ll be posting my review on the recent episode. I will be posting more movie reviews as I did in the past and I want to take you around with me on all the little DIY projects I do.

Also, I wanted to say thank you for supporting me yet another year! We’re so close to celebrating our TWO years on this blog! x

Let’s tackle this year! Just 11 and a half months to go!

Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

This year, putting the Christmas tree up seemed harder than ever! We couldn’t find where we had put it (it’s a fake one) and we had no recollection whether we threw it out to get a new one or not. By the time we realised this, we rushed to the store just to find that there were no Christmas trees left. So we had to buy a tiny little light up one! Either way, here is my Christmas tree tour. Cute, isn’t it?

Merry Christmas! X

12 Days of Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! As per last year, I will once again be doing a twelve days of Christmas whether this be about fashion, make up, decorations and presents!
